Small group training is a form of Personal Training offered at Franciscan Health Fitness Center Chicago Heights. Find some friends (a group of 4-8 participants) and create your own small group training. With this amount of participants, the Personal Trainer is able to build a connection with each individual while also giving proper attention to each participant's safety, form and alignment. Having other participants exercising right beside you often encourages you to keep going. Both the Personal Trainer and the other participants are there to help you to get through the challenges in front of you.
You are all on the same team. Martha Cook, member since 2011, mentioned, “group training helps to keep me motivated. In the group, if I don’t feel like exercising, someone in the group encourages me to keep going and it becomes not only a workout but makes it fun as well.” Yes, that is right, fun! The right exercise program done with other participants can definitely be exciting and enjoyable. When participants exercise in a group, they establish relationships and make friends, which helps to increase their adherence to the program. Linda Wheeler, member since 2010, stated, “I like group training because it is easier to train as a group, and I like the friendships that I have developed due to it.”
Not every participant in the group has to have the same physical activity level. The job of the Personal Trainer is to work with each participant’s physical needs to help make the group successful.
Sara Hinton, member since 2019 quoted, “I know for myself it is hard for me to walk around the track while the others are able to in my group, but I will do something else on my level like ride the NuStep bike to still get my cardio in.” Not all the workouts are the same each time. The workouts change and evolve as the group progresses. Small group training is great way to get involved! This small group training is called “Jenna’s Ladies Glisten.”
